Lisa A. Hayes

Director of Outreach

Before joining AFJ, Lisa was a partner with a Seattle law firm, where her practice included serving as lead counsel in more than a dozen trials and appeals involving Constitutional questions of law. While in private practice, Lisa averaged more than 200 hours a year in pro bono work and spent over 600 hours a year in community service. She has worked with the League of Conservation Voters, the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, the Future of the Law Institute, and the White House Project. In recent years, Lisa has organized and staffed legal clinics serving the homeless, been general counsel to the nation’s oldest continually-operating community club, and helped a neighborhood coalition design an aggressive campaign responding to the risk that rising real estate taxes would force them from their homes. Lisa has been deeply involved with political issues for two decades, with a recent emphasis on voter protection programs.  She chairs the Washington State Bar Association Professionalism Committee and is a member of the Washington State Gender and Justice Commission.  She has been repeatedly honored for her professional and community efforts.  (J.D., University of Washington School of Law, Order of Barristers; B.A., Boston University, cum laude.)
